Abstract
Paper presented at Quebec - The paper traces the genesis of library consortia globally. It then chronicles the beginnings of GILLDDNET, the informal library cooperation in Ghana, efforts and support from various institutions and organizations and its eventual formalisation into a consortium called CARLIGH in 2004. The organization and structure of CARLIGH is discussed including its Strategic Plan and Working Groups. The challenges and successes of the consortium are then stated. The paper concludes that CARLIGH is a success story however more efforts should be put into membership drive to make its impact felt nationwide thereby consolidating the gains made. |
