Abstract
V, 38, Appendix - The Ghana government's policy of rapid industrialization and nationalization after the attainment of independence in 1957 led to the acquisition of the assets of A.G. Leventis in 1962. This gave birth to GNTC Bottling Department. Another factory was opened in Kumasi in 1966 to serve the northern part of the country. The GNTC Bottling Department as it exists now hasn't got the congenial conditions, surroundings and flexibility for working. The purpose of this project is to design a suitable factory for the GNTC Bottling Department. This is to be done by studying the existing facilities in both Kumasi and Accra and to make suitable design proposals. This has necessitated the comparative studies of the operations of soft drink factories in general, both local and foreign. This thesis also covers the broad areas of physical, socio-economic factors responsible for the location of the factory with respect to the general expected development of industrialization in Accra - Tema for the next 20 years.
