Abstract
VII, 147p - This regional study was designed to evaluate how farmers in the Somanya District of the Eastern Region of Ghana use their acquired knowledge and available resources in crop production activities. The study also seeks to create an awareness for priority to be given to farmers training and education programme, better health and nutrition policies, raising of rural welfare alongside the planning and development of skilled workers needed for economic development through agriculture. The importance of agriculture in national development, Man in the Agricultural Production Process and the concept of human resource development are discussed extensively. The geographical background, that is, the physical and socio-cultural conditions which are pertinent to agricultural production in the Somanya area is highlighted. The sampling, questionnaire and intervew methods are used in the gathering and analyzing of the data.
