Abstract
vi, 64p. - A lot has been said through the mass media and on political platforms concerning food losses in the country as a result of poor and inadequate food storage facilities and structures. The object of this study therefore is aimed at investigating the following: to find out the methods of storage and preservation of food crops by geographic regions; to find out the causes of food storage structures with respect to materials, construction methods, capacity and efficiency; to find out what difficulties the farmers encounter in transporting and marketing their produce and to consider methods of harvesting and handling us well, for the possible period of reasonable storage of any agricultural product depends on a lot of this and other factors. The survey method was used. This was preceded by a questionnaire sent to agricultural technical assistants and officers in the region for their study before the commencement of the survey.
