Abstract
xii,91p - The thesis is a study of the problems of low economic development in the cape coast sub-region. The major problem here is lack of an adequate economic base for cape coast, the sub-regional capital and the capital of the entire central region, which hindered it from activating economic development in the sub-region. The aim of this study is to analyse the problems facing the sub-region in terms of socio-economic development, analyse the development potentialities of the sub-region and then find solutions to these problems by evolving a rational economic development plan for the sub-region, including a development programme for cape coast itself. The method of study comprised direct survey, direct interviewing and library research. The first three chapters provide background information concerning the cape coast sub- region and cape coast itself.Chapter four is concerned with an appraisal of the methods already employed in Ghana and other selected countries to solve these problems.
