Abstract
V, 66p.:ill. - Through the initiative of the Peki Union, the Federal Republic of Germany agreed to a proposal to finance the establishment of an Agricultural Project in the Peki area of the Volta Region of Ghana. The settlement far was aimed at checking the exodus of middle school leavers from the district, encouraging the youth to take up farming as a career and weaning an appreciable proportion of the local farmers from their wasteful fragmented and shifting system of agriculture to a settled and improved system of farming. The aim of this work is to use the existing project as a case study and to plan as well as design the housing and business areas of the farm settlement at Peki with regards to local conditions. The scope of the study include: i.the organizational set up of settlement farms in Ghana, ii.the socio-economic background of the 100 settlers; iii.the type of farm structures; iv.methods of building constructions in the Peki traditional area. - KNUST Library |
