Abstract
Nessa dissertação apresentamos uma análise do papel da Organização das Nações Unidas (ONU) no cenário da segurança internacional. Estudamos o papel das Instituições nas relações internacionais para busca da paz e estabilidade, e abordamos as teorias das relações internacionais. Analisamos ainda a estruturação da ONU e sua atuação, especialmente com relação à resolução dos conflitos, bem como apontamos algumas reformulações estruturais que se fazem necessárias para acabar com a instrumentalização imperialista das Nações Unidas. Por fim, focamos os estudos de caso do genocídio de Ruanda e a invasão do Iraque em 2003. - Abstract: This dissertation aims at presenting an analysis of the role of the United Nations (UN) in the International Security System. It elaborates on the role of institutions in International Relations in the search for peace and stability and discusses the theories of International Relations. In addition, it analyses the structure of the UN and its performance, especially with regard to conflict resolutions. It also points out some structural reformations that are necessary to end the imperialistic use of the UN.
