Abstract
This project compares and contrasts the effects implementing digitised payments in Sweden and Kenya. The purpose of this project is to analyse how effective the aims proposed in the World Bank led report, 'The Opportunities of Digitizing Payments', have been in both of these countries. The project's findings show that both Sweden and Kenya have been heavily affected by the aims of the World Bank led report, and many of the proposals made in this have been adopted in local policies. The research in this project has been undertaken in line with a Critical approach, and has employed Discourse Analysis, in order to investigate possible intentions behind the this publication. Neoliberal views are also applied to critique this aspect of the report. Additionally, this project compares the effectiveness of the report's aims in both countries, by applying Schumpeter's Theory of Innovation to understand the way that such aims could lead to GDP growth and improved financial inclusion. |
