Abstract
This project, Development of Electricity Plan for Ghana, looks into the issues Ghana is facing regarding their electricity sector. In this, the project especially looks into the possibilities for using different sources of renewable energy, where hydro power is the dominant source in Ghana. The research question created for this project is: Making an electricity system analysis comparing the baseline and ambitious scenarios, with 20 % and 50 % renewable energy for centralized electricity supply in 2030, is the ambitious scenario economically feasible for Ghana?

When the potential technologies for electricity production in Ghana are analysed, a Sustainable Energy System Analysis is made through calculations for the 20 % and 50 % RE cases in a model in Microsoft Excel. The annual costs and job creation for the two scenarios are calculated and compared. It is concluded that the ambitious scenario is feasible, because the cost is only 7.26 % larger than for the baseline scenario. Furthermore, the ambitious scenario results in 74.29 % more job-years than the baseline scenario.
|
