Abstract
This paper examines the age long mode of secrecy in governance that held sway in Nigeria before the passage of the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA). This paper also examines the enormous challenges that hinder the effective implementation of the FOIA. In short, the paper analyses some of the shortcomings of the FOIA. Some recent developments in the country that the FOIA has been tested in are also looked at more closely, to foster greater openness. This brief article therefore, argues for greater public access to government held information. |
