Abstract
Research Article - Work stress has been the subject of many research studies conducted across the globe due to its impact on our daily lives. The situation appears to be aggravated by the recent COVID-19 pandemic which shook the foundations of work, industries, and economies in the world all over. The deaths, national shutdowns, and general uncertainties associated with the pandemic have not only affected workflow but have also led to more stressful situations in marriages. Thus, this study focused on examining the various sources of stress at the workplace and the relationship between work stress and marital satisfaction. The study used the descriptive survey research design with a sample size of 100 married tutors from selected colleges of education in Ghana. The outcome showed that married tutors experienced stressors which can be attributed to the underutilization of their knowledge and skills at work. Work stress and marital satisfaction were also found to be slightly positively associated, implying that a higher degree of occupational stress is linked to higher levels of marital satisfaction during the pandemic and vice versa. Results from the study further showed that there were no gender differences in work stress and marital satisfaction of married male and female tutors. |
